The old saying “you don’t know, what you don’t know” is very true when it comes to the smart technology industry. As a Certified Aging In Place Specialist and a Certified Living In Place Professional it is extremely important to always be up to date on the newest smart technology that is available for my clients.
In September I attended the Cedia Smart Technology Expo in Denver for two days, and boy, did I get an education on all the newest smart technology that is now available.
With over 300 vendors at the show, it took me the entire day on Friday to visit all of them. Then on Saturday, I revisited the ones that have the most interesting technology. Each one offers different tools to assist my clients to remain in their homes using smart technology. I made videos of the different products that I thought would be the most useful and will be sharing them shortly.
Some of these were lighting controls, key less door locks, motion sensors, stove safety, and lots of integration for family members to know that their loved ones are safe. The vendors I met with were all interested in learning more about Aging In Place and Living In Place, since more seniors and individuals with disabilities are choosing to remain at home.
It has now been two months since attending the expo, and I have been meeting with the different vendors to continue to learn about their products. Through these conversations it became apparent that some would benefit me in my home. I always like to try out products before introducing them to clients, so I have installed the Level Smart Door Lock in my home, and it is incredible. I also installed my Brilliant Smart Switches and dimmers that I am loving. With these control panels and smart dimmers, I can control the lights in each room from anywhere in the world. It integrates with my Sonos sound system and my Ring doorbell.
