Ah July, the summer month which hosts National Hot Dog Month, National Ice Cream Month and National Blueberry Month. It is also named after Julius Caesar. Why are we telling you this? Because something as simple as the month of July has so many facts that most people don’t know about.
Just think about all of the facts and decisions we need to make caring for our older adult loved ones. It can be overwhelming. So much to think about which can be very scary. Fortunately here at TASS we have many professionals that have been vetted and understand their unique profession and are willing to share all of their senior care knowledge with you!
Please take a look at our website www.tassgroup.org to see if any of our TASS skilled professionals could have the answers you are looking for!
But without further ado, for our July 2025 newsletter, TASS is proud to share our member/business of the month, Kimberly Paton from The Paton Law Firm!!
Kimberly Paton has been practicing law in New Jersey and New York for over 38 years. She is licensed in both states and has been handling Estate Planning and Elder Law for her entire career. Kimberly also has a strong background in multiple areas of law. This enhances her ability to handle estate planning and elder law in order to better protect her clients and their families.
Kimberly actively educates the public by speaking at local groups and writing articles. She urges people to be prepared for the future, “Everyone should have a valid updated Will, Financial Power of Attorney, Healthcare Proxy and Living Will. This is the first layer of planning for everyone.”
The second layer is Asset Protection. This is not for everyone, but everyone should consider protecting their assets. Kimberly is adept at creating a plan to protect assets using LLCs, Trust and special types of deeds. She prepares her clients for Medicaid and VA Benefits. Please remember that there are look back periods; for Medicaid (5 years) and for Veteran’s benefits (3 years). Kimberly carefully explains the pros, the cons and consequences of each choice and technique.
Ms. Paton is the owner of The Paton Law Firm in Fair Lawn, New Jersey, which is a full-service law firm, “a one-stop shop”. She was educated in the Bergenfield School System, NYU and New York Law School. Kimberly raised her two children with her late husband in Fair Lawn, NJ, which is very convenient to her Fair Lawn office.
